halpern titanium, carbon fiber & g10

About Us

On Martin Luther King Day in 1997, Marianne and Les Halpern purchased $2,000 in remnant titanium. Married since 1978, a new life as business partners had begun. Working part-time from their home in Monson, Massachusetts, they offered small quantities of specialized materials: titanium alloys, carbon fiber, G10 and stainless steel micro-fasteners-perfect for hobbyists, especially custom knifemakers.

The Halperns' mail order customer base grew steadily over the next few years. By now, their quality G10 and carbon fiber were being sought by factories around the world. Outgrowing their home, the Halperns moved their business to the Palmer Technology Center in Three Rivers, Massachusetts in October of 1999. It was time for Marianne and Les to leave their respective careers to focus exclusively on their growing business.

Marianne drew on 25 years of special education teaching and supervisory experience to set company goals and manage the day-to-day operations. For 22 years Les had honed the skills that would become invaluable at Halpern Titanium- designing, engineering and manufacturing specialized seating equipment for the developmentally disabled. Along with his passion for custom knifemaking, Les was well- prepared for this new challenge.

The Halperns purchased a Supermax CNC Vertical Milling Center and welcomed their first employee in 1999. Halpern Titanium had leapt into the world of machining precision components and was primed for significant growth.
